With the change in seasons I have been drawn to more elaborate and embellished fabrics like this amazing Carolina Herrera jacquard that is simply the most gorgeous fabric EVER! and much more impressive in person. My original thought for this fabric was a dress but because it’s such a bold print, I thought it may be a bit overwhelming so I stuck with a skirt and a top which I plan to pair with a pencil skirt down the road. One note on this fabric is that the turquoise threads are very fragile and prone to snags so be cautious. The skirt was made using Butterick B5285 view B with the following pattern alterations:-Added 5.5″ to the length-Used inverted pleats instead of box pleats
-Added a 2″ waistband
-Added a 9″ invisible zipper to the back waist

Nikki, you look amazing for someone who just had a baby… Congrats to you and your husband…. This outfit looks fabulous on you….
So a gorgeous skirt….and you look great post-baby. I’ve not sewn a skirt in a long time, this Caroline Herrara beauty almost makes me want to!
I love the entire outfit. Beautiful!
You did not just have a baby! You look gorgeous! Beautiful skirt too!
That fabric is absolutely stunning! It looks perfect with this skirt!
Thank you Erica
Beautiful skirt. What lipstick shade are wearing? It looks great on you and I see you wear it often.
Thank you, it’s Cover Girl Hot.
So are you now going to make – and show – baby clothing? Hint..hint…
I plan to 🙂 at least when she begins to crawl.
Gorgeous! You can wear that midi length so well!
Soooo! cute
This is a very lovely skirt. Your fashion eye is phenomenal. Congratulations on the baby J’adore by the way 🙂
You have inspired me. I just received this fabric yesterday and can hardly wait to get started. Thank you!
I absolutely, positively LOVE your style of dress and creative genius as it pertains to fitness and fashion. I too am 5’10 and and often find it challenging to find clothing that fits perfectly as well as compliments my tall, skinny figure. I have a vision for my life even as it pertains to my style of dress and the image that I’d like to exude. Because of YOU, yes YOU AND answered prayer, I have been inspired to now have at least 50% of my wardrobe made! I am so excited! I do NOT sew but I am determined to find a seamstress who is as skilled as you are. You Nikky are simply amazing! Me finding your blog was an answered prayer…it really was. I’ve always known from an early age how I wanted to dress as an adult. Your blog and fashion creations epitomize how I see myself and style of dress that I prefer and desire. I just want to say to you Nikki, Thank you for being such a blessing to me!
