Lately I have had the desire to wear clothes that are fashionably comfortable. I have had to wrap my brain around the fact my body is changing and I don’t want to fill my closet for the next several months with clothes I will never wear again. The beauty of making your own clothes is the fact you don’t have to settle for those boring maternity clothes that flood pinterest. When I decided on this look, I wanted a nice breathable fabric with a small amount of stretch that would make for all day comfort, and this Italian lightweight suiting from Mood Fabrics was perfect. This is a cream colored lightweight fabric beautiful for spring.
The top was made with Vogue V8815 with the following alterations:
-Cut a 10″ graduated V in the neck line
-Added a 2″ tapered sleeve
-Added a 51″x 9″ double layered pleated peplum instead of the pattern peplum piece
-Cut the back piece on the fold removing the zipper
-Added a 9″ zipper on the left side seam
-Faced the front and back neck
-Lined the back with satin from Mood Fabrics
The pants were made with Vogue V8909 the only alterations made were leaving out the drawstring, adding a 1.5″ elastic at the ankle and I lined them with satin from Mood.
