With Halloween coming up, I desperately needed a cosplay outfit. But, honestly, going to the Halloween store or ordering online can be a nightmare. Sizes in the store never go above a size 12, and the sizing online can be so crazy I might as well order alien sizing. Which is why Mood’s amazing line of cosplay patterns comes in a wide array of sizes! This particular cosplay goes up to a 26, but most of Mood’s patterns go up to a size 30!

Dragon & Gabbana
I had my pick of the litter, but of course, I chose to be a thick Daenerys. This woman is strong, sensible, and stylish. Plus, who doesn’t want to be the mother of dragons?

Searching the skies
This jacket was surprisingly easy, and I say that as someone who has been sewing for a little over a year. I honestly was in the middle of cutting out the pattern when I realized I had almost no experience with sewing jackets, and the whole thing looked so… complex. But the lining goes together super quick, and then the outside is almost the same thing!

I am not here to be Queen of the Ashes
To keep the jacket closed, I opted to use snap tape. Since I’m a little more, ahem, well endowed than the Khaleesi, I also attached some hook and eyes to really keep it closed.

I am here to look fierce and ride dragon
I’ll be rocking the Atlas Cosplay and hanging out with Swatch at ComicCon from 12-2 on Thursday and Friday, but Mood has a bunch of activities planned all weekend!

So many men have tried to kill me, I don’t remember their names.
Check out the original Atlas Cosplay, made by the fabulous Courtney and modeled by the stunning Brittany!

Hy Molly !
I fell in love with your coat !
Consider you that I can sew it in a creased not to flexible velvet ?
I need a size 18 or 20 and I want to make the long version, 7.5 yards of that fabric, is that enough ?
Thanks forr your answers… and for that fabulous coat !
Hi, Sophie! Glad you enjoyed the post. I think 7.5 yards should be enough to account for the added length and the nap of the velvet, but I would encourage you to make a muslin version first to make sure. Let me know how it comes out!
Finishing up making this great design. Definitely not for a novice sewer, and iffy for an intermediate one. There are no markings where to place the pieces, so I matched up the curves. The front to side bodice was dicey, but after pinning it to my dressform, I figured it out. The lining pieces for the shoulder flares did not match up AT ALL. In fact, I had to remove them, turn them front to back, and resew them so the shoulder seams matched up. However, rather than slip stitch the opening at the edges, I sewed the piece to the outside and turned it. Did take a little fiddling with the boning piece at the shoulder seams. I need to do some adjusting for a more snug fit at the waist, but I think this will be a great addition to my fall and spring coats. You think I’m working this hard on it just to wear it to the renfaire???
I absolutely love these patterns. Hard to find gems!
I’m glad you love the patterns, so do I! It’s definitely hard to find good free patterns, which is why Mood’s are such a blessing! Even the ones that aren’t particularly my taste can be altered with ease!
SOsad this one doesn’t go to the 28 TT_TT This would straight up SHINE in my wardrobe as an everyday jacket.
