This isn’t merely a garment; it’s an exploration of form and texture, a symphony of sculpted lines and romantic undertones, meticulously designed for those who appreciate the artistry of a truly structured silhouette.
Imagine the satisfying curve of each precisely paneled section, promising a supportive embrace that both defines and flatters. We’ve envisioned this corset brought to life with the exquisite pairing of a blush-toned duchesse brocade, its rich weave hinting at timeless elegance, contrasted by the liquid sheen of a soft rose polyester satin. The addition of a striking graphite gray piping introduces a contemporary edge, a whisper of modernity against classic beauty.
But the Avignon Corset is more than just exquisite fabric; it’s about the journey of creation. Each panel, thoughtfully interlined for enduring stability, works in harmony with strategically placed boning to sculpt a posture of confident grace. The classic eyelet and ribbon closure at the back offers not only adjustability but also that iconic laced detail, a hallmark of enduring style.
Whether gracing a layered street-style paired with our Biarritz Skort, or commanding attention as a standalone statement, the Avignon Corset offers a duck canvas base for practical support paired with comfort. Picture it reimagined in a shimmering Jacquard, a deep jewel-toned satin, or perhaps a daring juxtaposition of contrasting textures. This is a pattern destined to become a cherished staple, a testament to your skill and an undeniable head-turner.

Find Your Perfect Fit
The size guide below is based on the suggested design & wearing ease for this style. You can choose the size according to your desired finished garment measurements, blending between sizes as needed. Measure the printed patterns to make sure the dimensions are according to the desired fitting and adjust—if needed—before cutting the fabric. For best results, sew a test garment in a similar fabric to adjust your pattern.
Note: Measurements may vary after adjustments. If using non-stretch fabrics, reference the approximate finished garment measurements chart to choose your size.
How To Sew The Avignon Corset
Sew with 3/4″ seam allowance for all seams unless otherwise specified.
The instructions provided are designed to guide you through sewing the main fabric and the lining fabric for the Avignon Corset simultaneously.
*Adding a stabilizer, such as buckram or duck canvas, is generally recommended to maintain structure, support boning, and prevent fabric distortion. However, interlining each panel with a firm fabric is an alternative that reinforces the corset, which can be useful for lighter or decorative designs.
Step 1
FRONT MIDDLE – FRONT CENTER
Sew the Front Middle panels to each side of Front Center.
(Repeat this step for the lining)
Step 2
FRONT SIDE – FRONT MIDDLE – FRONT CENTER
Sew the Front Side Panels to each side of the front.
(Repeat this step for the lining)
Step 3
BACK SIDE – FRONT SIDE
Sew the Back Side panels to each side of the Front Side panels.
(Repeat this step for the lining)
Step 4
BACK CENTER – BACK SIDE
Sew the Back Center panels to each side of the Back Side panels.
(Repeat this step for the lining)
Step 5
CASINGS
Pin down the seam allowance on the front and back panels to sew casings for the boning.
Step 6
BONING
Insert boning into the casings at the front and back of the main fabric.
Step 7
MAIN FABRIC – LINING FABRIC
Join the main fabric and the lining together.
- Baste the piping detail along the top and bottom of the main fabric.
- Pin the main fabric and the lining with right sides together.
- Sew along the upper and lower edges with the piping sandwiched in between.
- Use the opening at center back to turn the corset right side out.
(Press the edges neatly)
Step 8
FINISH CENTER BACK
Fold the edges of the seam allowance inward and top stitch 1/8″ from the outside.
Step 9
EYELETS & RIBBON
Mark and place each eyelet at center back to tie the closure with a ribbon.

Interesting. This 110% will not work for anyone with breasts over a B cup, unless you use synthetic whalebone. Ridgeline just doesn’t work to support breasts in a corset.
I speak from years of costuming experience; use synthetic whalebone if you have larger breasts.
