Ecclesiastical fabrics and designs have been sneaking their way into fashion this past year, especially since the Met Gala last May; and with a theme like Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, who is surprised? With so many holiday parties this month, I knew I needed to add some layers to my wardrobe. I can’t keep showing up in the same two party outfits, right? Luckily, Mood’s new brocades and jacquards saved my closet once again, and after finding this gorgeous medallion jacquard, I was able to bring a little Met Gala into my ensemble with The Begonia Jacket.

Fabrics & materials used:
- 4 yards Purple and Metallic Gold Vestment Jacquard
- 3 yards Lucidum Patrician Purple Bemberg Lining
- MDF004 – The Begonia Jacket Sewing Pattern (free download below!)
All seam allowances are 1/2″ unless otherwise stated. See chart below for sizing specifications. Note, this specific pattern is available up to a size 22.

With no closures to worry about, this jacket goes together in a breeze; and with Mood’s new Bemberg linings, it feels as good as it looks! It can be difficult to find a lightweight lining that doesn’t fall apart at the seams, but these are stronger than they appear – no sacrificing fashion and comfort for durability!

This pattern was exactly what I was looking for, thanks a lot!
I’ve had some beautiful red “Oriental” print material in my cupboard for years. its still just as beautiful. now with COVID-19, its time to let it out. I think a simple pattern will let the print shine thru. thank you.
Sorry for the newbie question, but does the pattern already have the seam allowance included or do i need to add it myself?
A 1/2″ seam allowance is already included! 🙂
Hi, would this pattern be OK for velvet(een)?
Hi Siobahn, yes it would! I want to make one out of velveteen too!
