I’ve been looking at palazzo pants for a minute, I’m not a huge fan of them but wanted to experiment. What better way to experiment with fashion when you make your own. I have a long torso so high-waisted pants are perfect, but finding high-waisted patterns are few and far between, so I used the Vogue V9075 pattern with the following alterations:
-Removed the bodice portion of the pants-Added a 4.5″ waist to the pants-Added a 9″ zipper-Tacked the pleats to create more movement
The fabric used for these pants was a Donna Karan wool and lycra fabric which was perfect for this application. It’s the perfect weight for tailored pants with a nice drape. The fabric has a bit of stretch to it and cuts and sews easily. This fabric would also be great in a nice tailored dress.
The top was made using this Burdastyle crop top pattern. I purchased this silk striped fabric from Mood LA last year but here is a great alternative.
