With a few quick and easy pattern alterations, you can easily update any look! Here’s how I altered the Original Davallia Bodysuit pattern
- Close the back opening of the bodysuit
- Split the front and back into top and bottom pieces. Make sure to add seam allowance where needed.
- Add an extra 6″ to the length of the collar. Cut 2 of fabric of the collar on the fold lengthwise. Keep the width of the collar as is.

Here’s how to sew:
Cut out the front and back bodice pieces in both the knit and organza overlay. For the overlay, I cut the waist slightly larger so I could gather it for a blousant look.
Attach your knit top bodice and the organza bodice together at the armhole openings. Then attach your sleeves.
Gather the waist of the overlay and pin to the knit bodice at the waist. Pin and sew together. Here you can add a strip of elastic for extra comfort.
Sew together the bottom panty portion of your bodysuit, then pin it to the waist of the top bodice and sew.
For the back neck, I cut a 4 1/2″ for the keyhole opening. Sew together your collar pieces, turn and press. Now use a basting stitch to gather the bottom edge. Pin collar to you neck opening and sew. I used a small binding tape to finish the back of my neck opening. Add buttons to close the neck.
The last thing to do is add on your neck applique. The part should be sewn by hand. That’s it! Your Davaillia Bodysuit is done!
