Mood Fabrics is committed to showcasing Black designers, makers, and talent during Black History Month, and the Mood Sewciety Podcast is no different. Tune in as we bring you three exclusive interviews with Black designers who inspire us.
A true multi-hyphenate, Shane Ballard is a costume designer, illustrator, and educator who has worked on a number of projects ranging from Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story to the Bessie-nominated dance piece Kolonial, as well as lending his wisdom to the next generation of theatrical and fashion professionals. Ash and Camille catch up with their former professor to discuss his recent and upcoming work, as well as his perspective as a Black man in the theater industry.

About Our Hosts
Camille is one of the co-hosts and the editor of the Mood Sewciety Podcast. When she’s not podcasting, you can usually find her writing product descriptions while listening to history lectures, studying film theory, and playing Nintendo games with her cat, Athena.
Ashley is one of the co-hosts of the Mood Sewciety Podcast. She received her BFA in Costume Design and has designed and worked on her fair share of theater productions, operas, and film sets. Although she spends a lot of her time creating content and monitoring Mood Fabric’s social media pages, she is also an avid cosplayer and has been for 10 years.
