My favorite part of summer is relaxing on the beach or in the park, reading a book, eating finger sandwiches, and stretching out on a comfy blanket to take a nap in the sun (under an umbrella, gotta protect your skin from those UVs). But tragedy struck me this week when I was headed to the beach and realized I had no blanket! I hurried to the closest store and picked up what they advertised as a large blanket. I sauntered off to the beach, ready to enjoy a long day of relaxation, only to discover the beach blanket was only big in length! I was stuck at the beach with slightly longer towel than average. I know, how horrible. So, the first thing I did when I got back to work was make a fabulous picnic blanket!
This DIY is very easy, the perfect way to occupy an hour or so of your time.
Fabrics & materials used:
- 2 yards Multi-Pastel Plaid Yarn-Dyed Cotton Twill
- 6110 Parma Violet 250m Gutermann Natural Cotton Thread
Instructions
Step One: Hem both sides of the length of the fabric.
Step Two: Cut strips into both sides of the width, 8″ deep and 3/4″ wide.
Step Three: Tie each individual strip.12
That’s it! You’re all done. Now, go enjoy your chic picnic with some avocado toast, a sushi burrito and a mimosa, or a virgin mimosa.

Great idea! Thank you Mood and big hug and thanks to you for blogging. I am not a bean pole waif so I think it is marvelous you are here to represent us that are more endowed than others. No body shaming to anybody, God made us all unique!
I’m glad to know there are other plus size people out there enjoying my blogs! The road to self love and body acceptance is long and arduous, I hope that other people who have felt like they don’t have a place in fashion can find confidence, inspiration, and hope in my posts.
