Want to know what’s fun? Using existing patterns to create new ones! It’s easy to mix and match patterns or do a slight alteration to an existing one. Here are a few examples of how you can mix it up with Mood’s free patterns!

Purchase Materials Used Below:
- 2-3 yards White Rosy Re-Embroidered Stretch Crochet Lace
- MDF190 – The Heather Dress Sewing Pattern (free download below!)
All seam allowances are 1/2″ unless otherwise stated. See chart below for sizing specifications. Note, this specific pattern is available up to a size 30.

1. The Heather Dress
This hack is super simple; all I did for the sample was cut the upper skirt pattern to measure about 9″-10″ long. The lower skirt ruffle was skipped entirely.

2. The Clementine Dress
This dress lends itself well to easy alterations. Shorten the skirt in a snap for more of a minidress vibe, or detach the bodice from the skirt to create new separates that can be mixed and matched into your wardrobe!

3. The Mimosa Dress
Skip the original skirt here and draft some rectangle tiers or simply pull the pattern pieces for the skirt from the Zenobia!

4. The Brando Tee
Make a casing channel and sew it onto the inside of the shirt, then add ties. Adding ties will create a ruffle effect. You can decide if you want one ruffle or two ruffles to your look!

5. The Nolana Jeans
Adding trims to jeans is one of the easiest hacks out there! You can either add some fringe into the side seams as you create the garment, or your can simply tack it onto an existing pair!

6. The Molina Tunic
Add style lines by cutting down the middle and splitting the colors into two. Do the same process for the back. Before cutting your main pieces, add seam allowance to the front and the back. Cut the front out of one color and the back out of another color to do a two-toned look!

Was the zipper also skipped as it was sewn with stretch fabric instead of woven?
Hi, Stephanie! The zipper was included with this one, but I think you could probably skip it for a stretchy fabric like this. 🙂
I love this alternation. I just saw this https://pin.it/6MNwraF and it made me think of this blouse with the cunilla skirt altered to look similar. And if you wanted to extend the heather top back into the heather dress for it but add sleeves to it. It would yeild a similar look. Lol the more I talk about it more I want to make it!
