When it comes to fashion, we’ve seen it all, from feathered fashionistas to sophisticated styles. In the past year, fiery red has fallen to ultraviolet, sheer ensembles have dominated, and designers have toyed with the very basis of fashion week. Although notable designers have left the schedule in search of greener fabrics, most have stayed tried and true to what they know: four weeks of blissful mayhem that make up one fashionable September. Without further ado, let’s a take a look at whose on the docket this coming September.
New York Fashion Week
September 6th-14th, 2018
- Christian Siriano, 4pm September 8th
- A “Project Runway” alum, Christian Siriano has done the show proud by becoming a top designer at NYFW. While his Fall 2018 collection featured a more serious overtone, he opted for a lighthearted atmosphere for Resort 2019. Finding inspiration in the pink, luxurious life of Barbie, will Christian Siriano’s life in plastic be fantastic for Spring 2019?
- Rodarte, 6pm September 9th
- “Wearability is subjective,” words that ring true when you look through the collections produced by Kate and Laura Mulleavy for Rodarte. Filled out by musicians and actresses, Rodarte’s creative directors employed their friends for their Fall 2018 collection, a dazzling spectacle of tulle and lace. Will Spring 2019’s collection feature more wearable pieces for the everyday woman, or will wearability stay subjective at Rodarte?
- Carolina Herrera, 10am September 10th
- After stepping down post-Fall 2018, Carolina Herrera’s brand will embark on the design journey without her. With Wes Gordan at the helm, Resort 2019 featured Herrera staples, such as ladylike ensembles and tailored silhouettes, with his own effervescent twist. Will Gordan take Carolina Herrera’s brand in a new direction for Spring 2019, or will it be as if the namesake never left?
- Anna Sui, 7pm September 10th
- Anna Sui’s collections come from a different world, fun and theatrical. Her 2019 Resort collection romanticized fashion, while Fall 2018 was a passionate love affair with style. Will Anna Sui’s relationship stay rock solid for Spring 2019?
- Oscar de la Renta, 10am September 11th
- Old and new, classic and contemporary; these are the worlds Oscar de la Renta combines on their runway. Having recently dressed royal mother-of-the-bride for Meghan Markle, the Resort 2019 collection featured pastel, tailored dresses fit for a royal mother. Will the regality continue in Spring 2019?
London Fashion Week
September 14th-18th, 2018
- Temperley London, 7pm September 15th
- Utilizing a motor-racing motif, Temperley London played with shapes and silhouettes. Temperley plays with price points as well, attempting to make a range of products for a range of people. Will Spring 2019 be affordable for all or more for the couture class?
- Victoria Beckham, 10am September 16th
- From Spice Girl to Fashion Guru, Victoria Beckham has done it all. But, this year marks ten years in business for her eponymous brand, longer than the girl group was together. Her Resort 2019 looks were an ode to her early years on the scene, paying homage to the camouflage dress she wore in Spice World. Will Spring 2019 hold a similar nostalgia?
- Delpozo, 2pm September 16th
- Delpozo’s Resort 2019 line featured the structure and subtle beauty of the cactus. This transferred into a beautiful, dream-like line with pops of color on brilliant white, and uneven hems. What will drive the inspiration at Delpozo for Spring 2019?
- Emilia Wickstead, 2pm September 17th
- Emilia Wickstead took us to 1960’s France for Resort 2019, the rustic parts with sprawling hills and fields of flowers blooming in the wind. This romantic mood translated into sweet floral dresses and bright colors. Will she bring us to the city for Spring 2019, or stick with rural France?
- Burberry, 5pm September 17th
- Timeless and classic, Thomas Burberry became big when he invented Gabardine, and the brand has since been the epitome of fashion. Will Spring 2019 live up to the timeless standard of quality we’ve come accustomed to from Burberry?
Milan Fashion Week
September 19th-25th, 2018
- Alberta Ferretti, 5pm September 19th
- Look delicate, act tough. Those are the words of Alberta Ferretti, and although they cannot make anyone act tough, they sure know how to make a woman look delicate. But, Resort 2019 took a step in a different direction with militant attire stepping down the runway. Where will Alberta Ferretti take us for Spring 2019?
- Fendi, 12.30pm September 20th
- A fashion line based in fur, there’s no one better to run Fendi than Karl Lagerfeld. A distinctly pro-fur company, both Lagerfeld and Fendi have received their fair share of flack. We already know what to expect for Spring 2019, fur, and a lot of it. But what will Fendi pair with their fabulous furs this season?
- Prada, 6pm September 20th
- Handed down from Prada to Prada, this family-owned brand has been around a long time. Timeless fashion meets experimental style on the runway, proving that Prada is a contester year after year. What will this classic company bring to the runway for Spring 2019?
- Moschino, 8pm September 20th
- Moschino has always been a brand of duplicity. On the one hand, Moschino loves to poke fun at the fashion industry, on the other hand, Moschino is the fashion industry. Profiting from the ludicrous atmosphere of the industry, Moschino crafts beautiful designs woven with humor and humility. Who will be the butt of the joke at Spring 2019?
- Versace, 8pm September 21st
- Versace is probably one of the most universally renowned fashion companies. From rappers to diplomats, everyone who is anyone has worn Versace. Big, bold, and beautiful, Versace makes their money from their garrish and glamorous designs? What will Donatella bring us for Spring 2019, and will we even deserve it?
Paris Fashion Week
September 24th-October 2, 2018
- Mugler, 10am September 26th
- Casey Cadwallader is a fan of androgyny, and her recent lines for Mugler show it. With a variety of garments, both unisex and not, Cadwallader played with what is feminine and what is masculine. Will Mugler continue to bend the genders for Spring 2019?
- Elie Saab, 3pm September 29th
- Elie Saab is self-taught, not something you could guess when looking at the immaculate designs he graces the runway with. Prioritizing elegance over glamour, his work is the height of fashion. There’s no question, Elie Saab will produce an exquisite line for Spring 2019.
- Hermès, 6pm September 29th
- From Jackie O to Queen Elizabeth II, blue bloods prefer Burberry. A classicly chic designer, Burberry is known for its tactful use of plaid and the coveted Birkin Bag. What timeless traditions will Burberry shake up for Spring 2019?
- Balenciaga, 11.30am September 30th
- Balenciaga isn’t just a fashion house, it’s a fashion innovator. From balloon dresses to the waistless chemise, they’ve taken the typical silhouette and reimagined it. Will we see something new from Balenciaga, or will they create what they know for Spring 2019?
- Valentino, 5pm September 30th
- Valentino isn’t just about fashion, they’re about beauty and their designs show it. From regal designs to stunning silhouettes, the brand is all about glamour. Will Valentino be able to uphold their own standards for Spring 2019?
