Don’t you just love how a great print can inspire a fabulous look? I know I do, and I’m so excited to share the details on how I created this cute and flirty cocktail dress.
First, let’s get into this print! This amazing digital print is made in Spain exclusively for Mood Fabrics! It’s a stretch cotton sateen that’s great for fitted or structured looks. This abstract foliage print has pops of electric blue, red, and hot pink that jump right off the fabric!
The first image that popped into my head was a flirty cocktail dress ready for a night out of dancing! The name of this print is called “Razzle Dazzle” so that just confirmed my idea was spot on!
Here’s what I used:
- Pattern: Simplicity D0896 View B- Mini Dress
- Sleeves: View C without the ruffle
- Neck: View D
- Fabric: Mood Exclusive Razzle Dazzle Stretch Cotton Sateen – 2.5yds
This pattern is really great because all of the components are interchangeable. I’m sure there are tons of different versions you can come up with depending on your personal preference.
For my dress, I decided to use View B. I love the flirty length of the bottom ruffle. The original fit of the dress was actually relaxed and a bit loose. I added back darts and tapered the waist for a much more fitted look. I chose the sleeves from View C (tunic) but without the ruffle cuff. I did, however, add a cute scalloped lace trim to the sleeve opening for an added touch. As far as the neck option, I chose to go with the Tunic version from View D. I also added a really pretty trim to the neck that I found in my trim stash! The outcome was really pleasing if I do say so myself!
Enjoy!
