Houndstooth is one of those classic patterns that will never go out of style. Many many many years ago one of my favorite pieces of clothing was a houndstooth rain coat I think I wore everyday of the fourth grade. I won’t even discuss why I was the only kid walking around in a houndstooth rain coat, suffice to say I LOVED it.
This houndstooth is a medium weight cotton suiting with stretch in the weft. Although this dress doesn’t require stretch, this fabric would be great as a fitted skirt or pants.
This dress was made using vintage Vogue 9143 with the following alterations:
-Remove 19″ from the length of the dress
-Added 6″ to the length of the sleeves
Chandler’s dress was made using Simplicity 2376 with the following alterations:
-Added 2″ to the width of the frill
-Added a 1/2″ maxi piping
Me: (Dress-DIY) (Heels-Giuseppe Zanotti) (Shades-Steven Alan)
Chandler: (Dress-DIY) (Boots-Dr. Martens)

You are brilliant ! I love the clothes you make for yourself and now, little Chandler’s matching outfits too! I would love you to write a book on these gorgeous , chic and elegant mother and daughter outfits (with patterns please !) . I will be in front of the queue when it goes on sale.
Interesting use of the classic houndstooth Nikki. Impressed with the lengths some people go to when it comes to accessorising! Your baby is such a doll – gorgeous. I can imagine you’ll really enjoy making for her over the years. I love sewing for my 18yo; she can wear all the things I can’t!
I love to see Mothers that dress their child like you do. That is just precious.
