Find Your Perfect Fit
The size guide below is based on the suggested design & wearing ease for this style. You can choose the size according to your desired finished garment measurements, blending between sizes as needed. And/or measure the printed patterns to make sure the dimensions are according to the desired fitting and adjust—if needed—before cutting the fabric. For best results, sew a test garment in a similar fabric to adjust your pattern.
Note: if using non-stretch fabrics, reference the approximate finished garment measurements chart to choose your size.
How To Sew The Ibiza Trousers
Sew with a 1/2″ seam allowance for all seams unless otherwise specified.
How To Sew a French Seam with 1/2″ Seam Allowance
1. Sew Wrong Sides Together
-
Place fabric pieces WRONG sides together.
-
Sew 1/4″ from the edge.
2. Press and Flip
- Trim the seam to about 1/8“ if needed for a cleaner finish.

Press the seam flat, then fold fabric so RIGHT sides are together now.
3. Sew Right Sides Together
- Press again so the seam edge is flat.

Sew 1/4″ from the folded edge to encase the raw edge inside!
Step 1
PIN TUCK
Fold the front pant pieces and sew the pin tuck on the outside with 1/8″.
Step 2
BACK DARTS
Sew the back pant darts on the main fabric and the lining.
Step 3
HEM LINING
Sew the hem on the lining of the pant pieces before sewing the pattern together.
Step 4
FLAT LINING METHOD
Join each individual piece of lining to each piece of outer fabric before assembling the garment.
- Basting stitches hold the layers of fabric together throughout the sewing process and will be removed at the end.
- Wrong sides together, hand baste the lining to the main fabric of each leg.
- Use the sewing machine to sew additional bastings 3/8″ around the edges of the patterns.
Step 5
CENTER BACK
Sew the back pieces together at center back.
Step 6
FLY SHIELD & FLY FACING
Fold the fly shield in half lengthwise.
- Press flat.
- Finish the edges of the fly shield and fly facing.
(Use a serger or an overcast stitch)
Step 7
ATTACH FLY FACING
Pin and sew the fly facing to the right hand side of center front.
Step 8
TOP STITCH FLY FACING
Press open and top stitch the fly facing 1/8″ from the seam.
Step 9
ZIPPER & FLY SHIELD
Pin and sew the right hand side of the zipper to the right hand side of the fly shield.
Step 10
CENTER FRONT
Pin below the fly facing, then sew the front pant pieces together at the crotch area of center front.
Step 11
ATTACH FLY SHIELD
Sew the zipper with the fly shield to the left hand side of center front.
Step 12
TOP STITCH FLY SHIELD
Press open and top stitch the fly shield 1/8″ from the seam.
Step 13
ALIGN CENTER FRONT
Align the front with the right hand side overlapping the left side to cover the zipper.
- Pin in place with the zipper closed
- Turn to the wrong side.
- Pin the fly shield away from the zipper.
Step 14
ZIPPER & FLY FACING
Attach the zipper to the fly facing.
- Open the fly facing and sew the other side of the zipper.
- Secure the fly facing to the front of the pants by sewing around the edge in a J shape.
Step 15
POCKETS & FACINGS
Wrong sides together, place Pocket A Facing on top of Pocket A.
- Mark the 1/2″ seam allowance with a small notch on each side.
- Flip the facing over and pin with the notches aligned.
- Sew the facing onto the pocket.
- Turn the facing over and press.
- Top stitch the facing 1/8″ from the seam.
(Repeat this step for Pocket B & Pocket B Facing)
Step 16
ATTACH POCKETS
Right sides together, pin and sew pocket B by the openings on the front pants.
Step 17
JOIN POCKET PIECES
From the wrong side of the pants, press open Pocket B and place Pocket A on top.
- Sew 1/4″ along the bottom and the sides.
- Press the seam with a dressmakers ham.
- Sew another 1/4″ on the other side to finish the pockets with French seams.
Step 18
SIDE SEAMS
Sew front and back of the pants together at the side seams.
Step 19
INSEAM
Sew front and back of the pants together at the inseam.
Step 20
WAISTBAND
Apply interlining to the waistband.
- Press the lengthwise seam allowance.
- Pin the ends while leaving one side of the seam allowance open flat.
- Close the ends of the waistband by sewing them right sides together.
- Turn the corners right side out and press.
Step 21
ATTACH WAISTBAND
Pin and sew the open seam allowance to the inside of the pants waistline.
- Make sure the top of the pockets get sewn in between the waistband.
- Trim the top of the zipper if it is longer than needed.
Step 22
FINISH WAISTBAND
Turn the waistband over to the outside of the waistline and sew all around.
(You can stitch in the ditch or sew an edge stitch 1/8″ from the seam)
Step 23
INVISIBLE CLOSURE
Sew the button & buttonhole along with two sets of hook & eyes to the waistband.
Step 24
1/2″ HEM
Finish the trousers by sewing the hem at the bottom of the main fabric.
(Use a blind-hem presser foot and/or hand-stitch to complete a blind hem for the utmost professional look)

Very interesting method of construction
