As I was browsing online for some fabric inspiration at moodfabrics.com, I came across this stunning print! I absolutely fell in love with the colors, the abstract look, and the geometric shapes.
I immediately ordered a swatch. The fabric was so soft and lightweight and all I could think of was making a beautiful flowy summer dress.
For this dress project, I used Burda Style pattern 102 look B.
- 2yds (for size 36) Italian Geometric Color Block Crepe
- 1 501 White 24” Invisible Zipper (I cut it down to 14″)
I followed the pattern pretty much as is. I didn’t want to change the look of this airy summer dress. I only made a couple of minor adjustments. I added a split to the front for a flirty touch. Also, I chose to use a rolled hem foot as opposed to a pearl edge for a more finished look on the sleeves and bottom hem.
This fabric is very light and somewhat on the sheer side so I did use self-fabric to line the top of the dress front and back.
The self belt is a great detail and is sewn into the seams of the godet at front. I tied my straps towards the side-front as my own style preference.
I’m simply pleased with the way it turned out! This dress totally has a 70’s feel! I think next time I rock it with my curly fro and some hoop earrings 🙂 There’s still plenty of time to make some really beautiful summer pieces, and plenty of great prints at Mood Designer Fabrics to choose from.
Enjoy.
