Fall for me, means layers, layers, and more layers. I’m all about the comfy shawls, over-sized sweaters, and lately I’m loving the faux fur trend. But really, who isn’t? Mood recently added a few fun and vibrant faux furs to their online inventory, and naturally I needed to make something immediately. Luckily, it’s so fantastic that it does most of the work, so I went with a quick and easy reversible vest. I based it a little on this one I made last year, with just a few tweaks, and I drew up a free template that everyone can try out!

Please note: Fit can change depending on your shape and size, so I always recommend creating a muslin first.
As I mentioned, this vest went together fairly similarly to this vest here. I also took the hood from this cropped jacket I made last fall.I sewed the fur layer and vinyl layer separately, adding two 8″ square pockets to the front of the vinyl layer. Then, placing right sides together (and tucking the faux fur out of the way of the seam allowance), I sewed around the hood, sides and hem.
This left the armholes open, which let me turn the vest right-side out. Each armhole was then slip-stitched closed.
I love that this vest gives you two distinct looks depending on how you wear it. Go vibrant with the fur on the outside, or wear as the lining for those chilly autumn mornings. Which way would you wear it most?
