Winter (dare I say it?) finally seems to be leaving. And in typical NY fashion, we’re looking right past spring and getting our wardrobe ready for summer. So what better way to do that than with a quick and easy DIY beach wrap?
Things you’ll need:
The best thing about this project is that the wrap is literally just a rectangle. It should be about as wide as your arm span, and however long you’d like your cover up to be. For the one above, I started with 1 yard of a cheetah print polyester jersey, and ended up cutting it down to about 27″. For the straps, I used a gold metal circular link chain.
The only sewing that needs to be done is for the straps. In the top corners of your wrap, cut a 45 degree 5″ line, like in the above photo. Cut your 1 yard of trim in half and attach the ends to each of the strips you just cut into the corner of your fabric.
To wear it, put on one shoulder, and wrap the fabric around your body before putting the second strap on your other shoulder. And in about 12 seconds flat, you’ll have a new beach ensemble! Now the weather just needs to catch up to our wardrobes.

Oh This is an old post but I freakin” love it as a starter project. For my daughter!!
So far all she feels safe doing is taking in side seams to fit her tiny self. *yes, honey, I am talking ’bout you :~)
such a cute starter project for newbies!
