We’re seeing nods to the universe on all fronts this Fashion Month, with shiny silhouettes and futuristic forms. While it can be a bit tricky to transform the galaxy into a casual everyday look, we’re still loving the space theme that’s cropping runway after runway. For a more toned down reference to the out-of-this-world trend, I’ve turned to one of my favorite lines of Mood Exclusive prints: The Gaia Collection. Boasting scenes of Greek gods and goddesses, interspersed with constellations and moons, this collection is home to the perfect cotton prints as we move into the spring season. Let’s take a look at some chic and easy ways to sport these prints with a few of Mood’s free sewing patterns!
The Heather Dress
The newest of Mood’s free patterns, the Heather Dress sports a double layer of ruffles along the bodice to create a strong shoulder while cinching the waist. You can opt for contrasting fabrics like our sample here, or go all out with your favorite print!
This pattern is also easily altered; simply skip the bottom ruffle for an adorable day dress length that can transition through the seasons with ease.
The Ginger Dress
Combining Victorian era sleeve volume with a minimalist silhouette of the ’60s, the Ginger Dress can be made with a variety of fabrics. Originally created with an exquisite lace panel that gave off some subtle wedding vibes, this dress is transformed into an equally gorgeous yet far more versatile day dress in a cotton print.
Try out the pastel trend by sewing this dress with one of Mood’s 4-ply silk crepes, or go dark and daring with some velvet vibes!

The Davallia Bodysuit & Daylily Skirt
I am currently obsessed with the recent trend to combine contrasting prints into one look, what better way to accomplish that than to sew two free patterns into your wardrobe? The Davallia Bodysuit creates an easy hourglass silhouette when paired with the Daylily, with bold shoulders tapering into the waist and flaring into yards and yards of tiered skirt.
Make them together and then pair them with the basics in your closet for double the versatility! I love the Davallia when worn with some classic jeans, and the Daylily is easily dressed down with a graphic tee and denim jacket.
