I’m one of those people that can never have enough loose-fitting little black dresses. I find them effortless, classic and comfortable. This dress was made with black wool crepe from Mood Fabrics, which, if you love crepe as much I do and understand the versatility of this awesome fabric, you will always keep this in your stash. It has a nice weight and irons beautifully with very little fraying. This dress was made with Butterick 5211 with the following pattern alterations:• Added a front curved flap to the dress by: 1) cutting two pieces of the front pattern piece; 2) using a styling design ruler, cut a curve on the bottom right side of the fabric; 3) basting the front pieces together.
• Drafted a long sleeve instead of the gathered sleeve
• Removed one pocket
• Removed 3″ from the hem
• Added a 9″ zipper on the back seam
The coat was made with a beautiful wool from MoodFabrics.com that is unfortunately sold out online. Editor’s note: Find lots of wool coatings here.
The pattern is McCalls M6657 view B with the following alterations:
• Added a seam to the arm
