It’s almost summer time, and living is breezy. With warm winds coming in and the hot sun finally here to thaw us out, it’s hard to think that fur would make the cut for summer fashion. But, designers have thrown out the guidebook on what fabrics should be worn in each season. Let’s take a look at what furs you should keep in your closet this summer.
Accessories
Careful accessorizing is the best way to incorporate fur into your summer styles. Diane von Furstenberg features a lovely fur sash, while Fendi shows off a fur shawl accented with a lovely heart. Miu Miu created fur straps for a backpack, and Simonetta Ravizza doubles down on summer style with a fur fanny pack.

Coats
A fur coat may seem heavy for summer days, but chilly summer nights spent by the beach or in the mountains are ideal for wrapping up in a fur jacket. ALEXACHUNG went for a basic navy jacket, while Miu Miu gets a little more complex with fiery red fur and gamboge and blue detailing. Valentino’s coat features a lot of depth and texture, and my personal favorite comes from Celine, a jacket perfect for relaxing in the British countryside on an overcast summer afternoon, waiting for the rain.

Trims
Fur trim is perfect for adding a flash of glamor to any garment. ALEXACHUNG and Diane von Furstenberg simply show fur on the collars and hood, while Dennis Basso features fur all around the hem. Tsumori Chisato’s denim jacket is the height of summer style, a cropped denim piece with a fur collar, ideal for bonfires on the beach.

How will you be utilizing fur this summer, or will you be avoiding this trend altogether? I love the fur trim, and I may just have to make myself a fur fanny pack or two…
