How To Sew The Emma Double Tiered Dress Free Sewing Pattern:
Step 1
Sew the bust and waist darts on your front bodice piece, then take it to the ironing board and press the darts down.
Step 2
Cut the scalloped part of the fabric and attach it as trim, then take to the ironing board and press.
Step 3
Join your top side piece to your front, but only to the right side of your fabric. We will be leaving the left side open to sew your zipper into the left side seam.
Step 4
Join your top back piece to your top side piece, then take it to the ironing board and press the seam open.
Step 5
Now pin and join your opposite side piece to your top back piece making sure to leave the left side seam open. Take to the ironing board and press the seam open.
Step 6
Pin and sew the front skirt darts, then take it to the ironing board and press. Repeat to the back skirt piece.
Step 7
Now we’re going to sew the right side of the skirt side seam.
Step 8
Sew the bodice to the skirt, then take it to the ironing board and press the seam open.
Step 9
Next, we’re going to use a gathering stitch in order to match the length of the bottom of our skirt length. To do this, were going to set our stitch length on the machine to the biggest setting and sew a straight stitch, then pull the thread ends to gather. Repeat to the second tier. Lining:
Step 11
Pin and sew the bust and waist dart on your front bodice piece, then take it to the ironing board and press the dart down.
Step 12
Join your top side piece to your front, but only to the right side of your fabric. We will be leaving the left side open to sew our zipper into the left side seam.
Step 13
Join your top back piece to your top side piece and take it to the ironing board and press seam open.
Step 14
Now pin and join your opposite side piece to your top back piece making sure to leave the left side seam open. Take to the ironing board and press the seam open.
Step 15
Pin and sew the front skirt darts, then take it to the ironing board and press. Repeat to the back skirt piece.
Step 16
Now we’re going to want to sew the right side of the skirt side seam.
Step 17
Pin and sew the bodice to skirt, then take it to the ironing board and press the seam open.
Step 18
This is optional but you can create adjustable straps out of your fabric by using a metal slider. Watch how to make adjustable straps.
Step 19
Now we’re going to attach the lining. For this, pin your self and lining right sides together and sandwich your straps in between.
Step 21
Now you’re going to want to place your zipper at the ½” seam allowance and sew only to the self.
Step 22
To complete your garment, sew your left side seam closed up to the zipper. Fold back the lining ½” and blind stitch to the zipper tape. Watch how to sew a blind stitch.

Please use a different color fabric in the instructions. The black fabric makes the steps hard to see. Especially darts and seams
