Here's how to sew:

First, close the darts on your front skirt pieces. Press darts towards the side seams. Pin together at center front seams then stitch. Press open seams. Repeat the same for the back pieces, but only sew the center-back seam up to the zipper notch and back-tack.

Before you attach the front skirt to the back skirt, you can add your trim. I folded the lace in half and trimmed about 2" off the width. While the lace is folded, pin and stitch the cut pieces together.

Pin your lace trim to the front of the skirt centering it along the center-front seam. Once it's in place, go ahead and stitch it down. Next, pin your ribbon on top of the lace centered down the front and stitch along the sides of the ribbon.

Now pin the front of the skirt to the back of skirt at side seams and sew.

Set aside skirt. Now here's where it gets a little tricky. The front cape is sewn directly into the princess seam. With the wrong side of the cape front facing the right side of the fabric on the side front, pin pieces together at princess seam edge and stay stitch in place.

Now the cape front and side front are as one piece. With the right sides of fabric together, pin the center front to the cape and side front piece and stitch along the princess seam. Clip into the bust curve to create some ease.

Pin lace trim down center front stitch in place. Pin and sew the velvet trim along center front and along princess seams. Add elastic trim in diagonal lines across bodice for added detail.

Ok, now we need to sew the shoulder seams. The capelet is also sewn directly into the shoulder. Using a french seam, pin the wrong sides of fabric on the front and back bodice along the length of the capelet sleeve and stitch.

With right sides of fabric together, pin the bodice together at the side seams. Make sure to pin only the sides leaving the cape part free. Press seams.

Once the side seams are done, you can attach the bodice to the skirt bottom. Pin along the waist matching up the center front and lace trim. The front bottom part of the cape will be sewn into the waist as well.

Pin trim tape to waist starting at side seam and stitch across the waist.

Next, we need to attach the cape to the center back seam directly into the zipper opening.

The outer layer of the dress is basically complete at this point so now we need to assemble the lining. Assemble the same as you did for the outer layer and press all seams flat.

Pin the zipper to the back opening and install your invisible zipper. Once the zipper is installed you can finish the neck by attaching the trim to the neck opening. Finish sleeve openings with a rolled hem. Now hem the dress and the lining and you're done!
