With Winter in full swing, I'm so excited to share our next featured pattern! The Hyssop Cardigan free sewing pattern is truly a wardrobe essential that we all need to have. This cardigan is great for layering! The rounded cocoon shape is very flattering and can be easily worn with a belt for added shape. There are pockets and oh we love our pockets!! How great would it be to have this cozy cardigan handy when your office is freezing? Made with Mood Fabrics unbelievably soft Cotton Stretch Knit Fleece you won't want to take it off! Go for a cute athleisure look and style it with an asymmetrical top using a printed knit, and on the bottom, a Ponte knit for a pair of awesome trousers. There are so many ways to wear a classic cardigan, so let us know how you decide to rock yours!

Here's how to sew:

Start by pining pockets with the opening edge to the front and back at the side seams.

At 5/8" in, stitch across securing pockets at side.

With right sides together, pin front to back at side seams, stitching around the pocket edge creating the pocket bag.

Turn pockets right side in and press.

Pin the shoulder seams and stitch to close the bodice.

Fold sleeve and stitch the underarm seam closed.

Set in sleeve, stitch and press armhole seams.

Next, we need to assemble the shawl collar and bottom band. You cut 2 of each piece because one layer will act as the facing.

The two collar pieces are attached at the back neck seam.

The bottom band piece is attached at the collar side seams as shown in the photo below.

Attach the facing layer by pining around the entire outer edge, sew, turn and press. Now you have your completed collar. Pin your collar to the bodice and stitch all the way around to finish.

All you have left to do is press everything nice and crisp! I top-stitched my cuffs and collar with a twin needle stitch. This is optional but it gives it a nice professional finished look!

I'd love to hear how yours turned out! Let's us know!
