Here’s how to sew:
I’m using french seams to finish my blouse. You can find more information about how to do a french seam here.
First, let’s attach the front yoke to our front bodice pattern.
Next, we can attach the back yoke as we did for the front.
After pressing all seams flat, you can attach the front to the back at the side seams which are also the underarm seams.
The neck, arm-holes and back opening are finished with a 1/2″ rolled hem.
Now for the fun part! Self-covered buttons and button-holes!!
You can follow the easy directions on the back of the button kit on how to cover your buttons.
Align your buttons along the side of your shirt opening for easy button-hole placement.
Pin to mark your button-hole placement.
That’s it! You’re done. Make sure to let us know how you plan to wear your Kleinia Blouse!

Hello, Am I correct in assuming that the seam allowances are included on the pattern? I download Burdastyle patterns often and there they are not included. thank you. JB
Hi! Yes, 1/2″ seam allowance is included.
Hi! Which size is the model wearing? Thanks a lot!
This was a size 8! 🙂
Will this pattern accommodate a Dcup? How much overlap is allowed in the back center pieces?
Hi! Yes, this pattern will accommodate a D cup, but make sure you have your band measurement to determine your pattern size. The back has a 1/2″ button placket. You can easily adjust by adding an additional 1/2″ if needed.
Gracias por compartir el patrón
Wouldn’t you need your full bust measurement to ensure a good fit, not your band size, then adjust from the full bust to your correct waist? Eg my full bust (40″) needs a 16, but my band size (34″) would call for a 6.
Hi Ami, we’re sorry for the delay in responding to your question! We get dozens of comments and questions each day, and so many questions get buried and, unfortunately, unanswered. We are now focusing user support on patterns 2 years and newer. We hope this will prevent questions on our more current patterns from going unanswered. Although this is late, we wanted to respond in case anyone else has the same question: yes you are correct. You would need a full bust adjustment, as we described here.
Hi, thanks for the pattern! Can’t wait to sew it! Can you recommend other fabrics for this project?
No problem! You want a medium-weight fabric that flows nicely, but doesn’t need a lining. Crepe, batiste, challis, and charmeuse are all great options!
Hi there! Is there overlap included for the buttons at centre back or is the 1/2″ seam allowance I see mentioned above?
Thank you!
Hi Meredith! There’s overlap included for the buttons at the back as well as seam allowance.
Just made this and I’m ecstatic about how it turned out. Is there a way to show you?
That is awesome! 🙂 If you use Instagram, you can tag @moodfabrics or #MadeWithMood and we’ll see it.
Lovely blouse. Would the measurements be the model measurements or should I use them as the finished garment measurements? PS – I made your Poppy dress for my daughter and I absolutely loved the dress and the instructions.
Yayy, that makes me happy – the Poppy Dress is one of my faves. 🙂 And the measurement chart is based on body measurements.
me gustaría adquirir sus patrones, están súper bellos Mil gracias
I think I’m going to try this! Are the buttons functional all the way from neckline to seam (i.e. do they all need to be unbuttoned to get in and out of the blouse)? I’m picturing how it might look with a half placket or a buttoned keyhole at that back neckline…
Hi Danni, they do function but they’re not required to get in and out of the shirt.
This pattern looks beautiful. Would it be possible to make it without the buttons (sewing the back shut) or would this be too difficult to get on/off? I have not experimented with this many buttons before and am wondering if trying it without the buttons would be more accessible for my current sewing level as I work myself up.
Hi, Naomi! The buttons on this pattern are actually largely for show, so you should be totally fine sewing up the back. 🙂
I am almost finished making this pattern and it’s looking nice so far. I just had a comment about the finished hems. It’s stated that a rolled hem is used but from the photos it clearly looks like a normal folded hem. I did rolled hems on the neck and sleeves but I’ll probably finish the back and bottom with a normal hem. Thanks for the pattern!
Hola mucho. gustó
Me gustan todos los patrones y quisiera descargarlos para confeccionar mi propia blusas
Good afternoon.
I’m in the UK, I know your paper is a different size. when printing on a4 does this make a difference to to the pattern pieces?
Thank you
Hi Jacqui! This pattern will work for A4 paper. 😀
Can I make without buttons and just have as an overhead blouse? Also, would your Polyester
Hi Judy, you’ll need that opening so you can get the top over your head. But you don’t have to use buttons…you can use snaps or a hook & eye instead! Polyester would work!
