Here’s how to sew:
*Note: The pattern does come with waist darts but they are totally optional depending on how fitted you want your dress. I added my waist darts after the dress was complete for a more fitted look.
Step 1
Pin the front to the backs at the side seams and shoulder seams.
Step 2
Next, pin the front skirt to the back skirt at the side seams.

Step 3
With right sides of fabric together, pin your sleeve along the seam and stitch.
Step 4
Pin and set sleeves in place. Stitch.
Step 5
Now, pin the top of the dress to the bottom along the waist seam. Stitch in place.

Step 6
I doubled my shoulder pads for extra volume and support on my shoulders. Pin shoulder pads to inside shoulder seam and hand stitch in place.

Step 7
Attach lining by pining to the neckline and cuff openings. Stitch in place. Turn dress right side out.

Step 8
When installing your invisible zipper, make sure to sandwich the zipper tape in between the lining and the outer fabric for a clean finish. Add your hook and eye and you’re done!
Note: I used a 24″ zipper and cut it down to my desired length of 19″. You can easily shorten a zipper by marking the location of where you want to cut it, then simply sew over the teeth to secure it.

This makes sewing with sequins look so easy! Thanks for sharing this great project.
Hi Elizabeth, I’m glad you liked it! Baby sequin is not difficult to sew at all!
Love this sequins look! How long is your zipper? I didn’t see it in the materials list.
Hi Charina! Thank you! I’m sorry, I just realized I left that bit of information out. I just updated it for you in the post. Let me know if you have any other questions- I’m happy to help!
I recently purchased some baby sequin fabric and there are lines that show every 12 inches. Is there a way to get rid of the line?
Hello JoieMichelle, if there lines are wrinkles or creases, you can use an iron with low heat, no steam, and press the fabric with a layer of muslin over it to avoid direct contact with heat.
Skipping the shoulder pads. Lol, thanks for this
