Purchase Materials Used Below:
- 1.5 yards of Evening Blue Floral re-embroidered lace with finished eyelash edges
- 16 Italian Navy Matte Shank Back Buttons
- 1/2 yard of Navy Foldover Stretch Tape – 0.625″
- 1 spool of 272 Navy 250m Gutermann Sew All Thread
- MDF162 – The Lyonia Shirt Sewing Pattern (free download below!)
Alternative Recommended Fabrics:
All seam allowances are 1/2″ unless otherwise stated. See chart below for sizing specifications. Note, this specific pattern is available up to a size 30.

Step 1
The first step will be to sew in the darts on your center front bodice.
Step 2
After you attach your front and back bodice pieces together, you can work on assembling the sleeves.
Step 3
First, use a basting stitch to gather the tops of the separate flounce and sleeve. Once you gather the caps of each piece, pin them together.
Step 4
Now turn the sleeve with the flounce facing in, and stitch down the sleeve seam.
Step 5
Turn right side out and press.
Step 6
Pin sleeve to the bodice, set in and sew.
Step 7
Next, I used the stretch tape to bind the neckline. It’s foldover tape so pin down the top edge of the tape on to the neckline then stitch into place.
Step 8
Then fold over the remaining edge of the tape sandwiching the raw edge of the neckline and stitch. Press when done.
Step 9
For the back closure, I use a button loop tape. Simply fold over the seam allowance and stitch the tape down in one continuous strip.
Step 10
Line up your buttons on the opposite side and stitch them into place.
And that’s it! You’re done!

Okay this is really lovely and I can’t wait to make about 5 of them!
That is very pretty -!
It caught my eye as I was scrolling around the site.
I now know the fabric isn’t ‘lace’ but re-embroidered lace.
If I try something similar, I will use fold-over tape and button loop tape.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful top.
It looks stunning on you. too.
I’m also looking forward to making some of these. Nice!
Me encanta todo . .. gracias por compartir
Thank you so much for sharing this pattern 🙂 I have made this top for my daughter with just the long sleeve and I modified the neck into a wider neck so I didn’t need to do all the buttons as I am only a mediocre sewer and have no loop tape where I live. The pattern is amazing, it went together perfectly and fitted my daughter well. Unfortunately I was not aware of the differences in laces and I made it out of lace that didn’t hold together at the seams, so don’t make this mistake and you will have a beautiful top!.
I made it!!! Thank you for this pattern! The instructions were clear and the pictures helped as well!! I made it in about a day and half. I look forward to making this again.
looking for ages for a pattern i could adapt to what i wanted and here it is no adaption needed. looking forward to making this
