Step 1
Sew the 2 front short layers at center front.

Sew the 2 back short layers at center back
Step 3
Before joining front and back together, hem the shorts at the side seams and around the bottom with 1.25″ seam allowance.

Step 6
Fold the waistband towards the inside and sew across the edge with the seam allowance. Leave a 1″ gap open to insert the elastic.

Step 9
To complete the shorts, sew the 1″ gap closed after the elastic has been inserted.

Hi
can someone make a youtube tutorial making this set? I have a lot of trouble with the shirt part of this pattern,
Hello, unfortunately we do not have a video tutorial for this pattern at the moment, but you can check out all of our other tutorials here!
Is it possible that there aren’t actually any notches on the shorts pattern for where the side seams should end? i feel dumb! trying to get back into sewing after a year or 2, it’s not easy but i could swear I still know what a notch is!
Hello, you can use the waistline as an indicator to mark a notch on the fabric.
I have also found this video which you may find helpful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOuBDX4dR4g
Is there a video to go along with this? There are no notches on the pattern pieces, and the directions are a bit vague. For example when sewing on the facing, what do you do to it once it’s flipped right side out? How far do you sew the side seams to give an actual armhole? Getting the sleeves to match up is funky, any advice will be gladly accepted. Thank you 🙂
Hello, sew the facings to the front pieces, flip them to the wrong side, sew the shoulders, and attach the collar (as seen in the step seventeen). There are many ways to finish this type of facing as you can look up “camp collar” or “simple shirt collar with facings” to find alternative ways to do it. For the armholes, they start where the sideline changes from straight to curved, these are very simple boxy sleeves, if you have any difficulty sewing them as we did, you can do it before sewing the side seams. Match the center top of the sleeve with the shoulder seam and sew along the front and back armholes, then close the side seams and sleeves together in one stitch line.
For the shorts, you can overlap the side seams as much as you want, we overlapped about 3″. Please view the pictures of the model wearing the shorts, and considering the side opening, you can decide how much you sew on the sides, but also we just updated the pdf file adding the notch for a better reference.
Where is the updated PDF with the notch added in?
Hello, please enter your name and email in the box that says “Download The Variegata Shorts Set Free Sewing Pattern”.
Hi, thank you for the pattern.
I use a projector, rather than printing, and since there are no A0 files for many of the patterns I open them in illustrator and stitch the letter size together.
I am not able to open this pone as it is password protected. Is there a way around this.
Cheers, Caramello
