Whether you’re preparing your fall layers or (finally) packing to go somewhere warm this season, a cute tank is a wardrobe must-have. The Wandflower Blouse free sewing pattern features a simple, camisole-like silhouette with a gathered tie detail that’s flattering for all. Sew yours up in a viscose print like this one or a version in voile this fall!

All seam allowances are 1/2″ unless otherwise stated. See chart below for sizing specifications. Note, this specific pattern is available up to a size 30.

To start, create each of your ties by folding them in half along the length, face to face. Sew along the long raw edge and short angled edge. Clip the seam allowance at the corners, turn right side out, and press each tie. Set them aside for the time being.

Next, hem the bottom edge of both front shirt panels with a 1/4″ rolled hem.

Place your upper front panel face down and fold the bottom angled edge in 1/2″. Press and repeat, this time folding it in 7/8″ and press again. Stitch along the first fold, creating a casing that your longer tie can be fed through. Pin or stay-stitch the tie into place at the top of the casing.

Create each of your straps. With the upper front shirt panel face up, pin one at each point on top of your panel. Lay your lower front shirt panel on top of the upper panel, also face up. Pin and stitch along the top edges, securing the straps into place as well. Clip the seam allowances, turn right side out (with the upper front panel over the lower front panel) and press the top edge.

Hem the top and bottom edge of your back panel with a 1/4″ rolled hem. Pin your shorter tie at the lower notch on the left side of your back panel like you see below.

Attach the front and back of your shirt at the side seams. Here, I recommend French seams or bias bound seams to keep it clean.

Push the upper front panel up on your tie to gather and tie with a bow. Will you be adding this quick and easy blouse to your wardrobe? Let me know what kind of prints you’re considering in the comments below!

I want to try this using Snail’s Bounty!
That would look gorgeous!
I haven’t sewed in years. The pattern was easy to follow, and it looks so cute on. Thank you for the inspiration.
Is the seam allowance included in the pattern?
Yes, a 1/2″ seam allowance is already included! 🙂
Thank you! I finished it and am super happy with it. Glad I did french seams.
Hi Courtney, I just found this top and think I am going to make it using the Italian Pink Rose Printed Woven Cotton. I live in Florida so I can wear tops like this year round. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Thank you for this really inventive top, I made it with a soft lightweight jersey knit and it turned out incredible. I can’t wait to make it again.
Has anyone made this with slightly wider straps to hide a bra?
