So many different fabrics are used during a season, but some stand out more than others. Jersey, wool, cotton, charmeuse, these are popular fabrics that are never out of style, but what about statement fabrics like vinyl or neoprene? Big Sequins

Nothing says flash and pizzazz like sequins, and nothing says style like big sequins. Enough of the small stuff, designers are going big with this fabric. Both MM6 Maison Margiela and Bottega Veneta simply use them as accents, while Carolina Herrera creates a full turtleneck out of big sequins. Sachin & Babi create an elegant mock neck, and Sally LaPointe’s midi skirt is the perfect statement piece.

Chunky Knit

Chunky knits are a fashion favorite right now. Comfy and cute, they’re perfect for fall. Chanel’s sweater dress needs no accessories to dress it up, while 3.1 Phillip Lim and MM6 Maison Margiela both created the perfect layering pieces. Sally LaPointe’s fur sleeves take the chunky knit into a sophisticated style, while Sass & Bide’s relaxed sweater can be casual or chic.

Foil

Foil attracts the eye automatically, as it catches the light beautifully. Balmain creates a blouse and trousers from foil, perfect for that futuristic look that so many are going for, while MM6 Maison Margiela’s  pleated foil skirt is so relaxed it loses its high-tech look. Just Cavalli’s foil pants are paired beautifully with some red heels, and Sally LaPointe’s beautiful foil pants make wrinkles look fabulous.

Jacquard Suiting

Jacquard suiting has been all over the runway this year. The intricate patterns and stunning colors create the most beautiful suits. Alice + Olivia’s short suit set features stunningly cute flowers, while Rosetta Getty and Gucci go with a larger floral print. Givenchy goes all in with a suit made entirely of jacquard, and La Perla uses jacquard to accent a seemingly simple suit.

It seems that all lace everything is the motto for many designers this year. Alice + Olivia’s tiered lace dress features some stunning ruffles, while Altuzarra’s skirt only uses a very small ruffle as an accent, letting the lace speak for itself. Chanel’s lace leggings stand out under everything in their way, while Rachel Zoe’s button-up and shorts ensemble needs no extra noise.
