Whether you live in a house or an apartment, a cabin or a cottage, there’s always something you can do to spruce up the place. Fashion and interior design both have seasons, and trends that you can track. Let’s take a look at what’s coming up in 2019 in the world of interior design.
Accent Curtains
Accent curtains are an easy way to bring some color and new vibes into a room. Hang up some purple velvet curtain in a white room to add some rich colors, or utilize sheer curtains in a boho sunroom to add some funky filtered light. Ashley Wilde has two beautiful examples of accent curtains. First, a stunning set of sheer curtains with a cracked eggshell design, which allows filtered light to enter an otherwise dimly lit room. Ashley Wilde’s second set of stunning curtains are textured with a metallic touch. Although they look perfect hung in this luxe room overlooking the Eiffel Tower, they would also be right at home in a cozy master bedroom that features silver accents in the room. I’m also absolutely enamored with the sheer curtains that open up to this lovely balcony.
Accent your home with these fabrics:
Floral Fabrics
Floral prints are perfect for bringing color and excitement into a room. Add a splash of print with a chintz chair, or accent a couch with floral throw pillows. This beautiful Airbnb features a simple green and white print that adds the perfect pop of color to an otherwise neutral room, and I’m obsessed with this simple floral lounge chair. An accent couch can pair beautifully with a straight color, like this pink and floral combo.
Give a flash of florals with these fabrics:
Fringing
Fringe is the perfect accent, and it can be attached to anything with ease. Curtains, chairs, throw pillows, you name it. This stunning, regal chair has a lovely fringe accent along the bottom, while the black fringe chair is entirely made up of leather fringe. This cute little ottoman is perfect for a lively living room, with a lovely cord fringe detail along the bottom.
Focus on fringe:
Jewel Tones
Jewel tones are popular on and off the runway in 2019, the perfect colors to bring some rich, dulcet tones into your home. These gamboge curtains give a breath of life to a mostly gray room and are paired beautifully with golden furniture. India Mahdavi designed this stunning sitting room, and the pop of these emerald chairs are giving me life! This jewel-toned bedroom is absolutely stunning, it combines regal purples and blues with a pop of gold that looks so peaceful.
Drench yourself in jewel tones:
Velvet
Velvet, the most luxurious fabric on the market besides unicorn hide. Who wouldn’t want to drape their dwelling in this lush textile? Add texture to a room, and comfort to stiff chairs with velvet. I’m in love with this stunning golden velvet chair that looks perfect for curling up with a book in the rain, while this emerald couch in velvet looks like a party. I came across this image of Sketch, a tea house in London, and discovered what my genie lamp would look like because wow. Pastel pink velvet scallop edged chairs bathed in soft lighting where tea and cookies are served? Sign me up.
Fall in love with velvet?
Which of these trends will you be bringing into your home? You know I’ll be making a pink velvet chair as soon as possible. Let me know in the comments!
