The warm weather and long days at the beach may seem long lasting, but every day we get closer to fall. Soon, students across the world will make their way to school, and everything from their canvas backpacks to their rib knit sweaters will be steeped in style. Although it’s always a good time to utilize an iron-on, let’s take a look at some other Back to School trends, and how to take them off campus and into your closet.
Blazers
Prim and proper, those engaged in scholarly pursuits are taking a professional approach this season. Fans of the cult classic Clueless, rejoice, as colorful blazers and skirt suits hit the runway. Fausto Puglisi pairs the blazer with the popular androgynous trend, showing off a stunning lilac blazer dress on a handsome male model. Akris keeps it sleek with a slimming black blazer dress, while Antonio Marras takes a twist on the traditional blazer with a tied front. Jason Wu’s skirt suit in black is trendy and classic, while MSGM makes it modern in a soft pink. Rag & Bone utilizes a herringbone wool to create the perfect fall piece, and TRE by Natalie Ratabesi uses a simple grayish white for a lovely blazer dress.

Create scholarly styles utilizing wool, or spark joy with sequins! Looking to add some structure to your study style? Check out neoprene! Or, use cotton sateen for a smooth silhouette.
Elevated Athleisure
Whether you’re running track or running late, elevated athleisure has probably entered your closet. Mother creates a stunning tracksuit utilizing warm stripes on an olive background, perfect for waiting for class to start or relaxing in style. Alice + Olivia indulge in sunshine yellow for an energetic set, while Claudia Li pairs a high energy track suit with low energy loafers. Iceberg’s sheer tracksuit worn over fishnets and heels is ideal for anything but athletics, while Just Cavalli’s tiger striped joggers and relaxed jacket are perfect for watching an NBA game. Nehera’s wide leg sweat suit is ideal for throwing on while running out the door, and Red Valentino’s sweatshirt dress is the perfect cover up for heading to swim team or going to the beach.

Pleating
There’s nothing more pleasing than a well-pleated garment. The proof is in the pleating of Gabriela Hearst’s absolutely stunning trench coat, which features pleats along every piece, including the yokes. Barbara Bui’s simple trapeze dress features a lovely lace detailing, while Etro shows off the hippie-chic style in a bell-sleeved pleated piece. Monique Lhuillier’s elegant jumpsuit features pleated pants and a turtleneck, and Solace London’s dip dyed dress is pretty in pleats. TRE by Natalie Ratabesi’s metallic gold gown shines for more reasons than one, while Zac Posen’s pleated fit-and-flare features a gorgeous pleated bodice and off-the-shoulder sleeves.

Pleat it up with pleated chiffon, or steer clear of sheer with pleated satin. Utilize trim to add some sparkle and shine to a pleated ensemble, or use pleated trim to add a dash of debonair.
Pussybow Blouses
The pussybow blouse is a personal favorite of mine, and I’m thankful to see them on the runway and soon, in my closet! Paul & Joe show off the most darling pussybow blouse in a pink polka dot, paired with a riotously red coat, a pinnacle of the feminine style this silhouette speaks to. Chufy and L’Agence both sport this style untied, while Michael Kors goes for a more traditional style with a frilly jumpsuit. Nili Lotan’s gothic glamour is subtle, with a black bow on a white blouse, and Red Valentino’s lacey look is paired with a perfectly pleated skirt. Zimmermann’s gorgeous jumpsuit is absolutely to die for, with contrast cuffs and collar and a matching belt.

Utilize silk charmeuse to create and elegant and graceful pussy bow blouses, or create a seductive style with lace. Get cozy and professional with bamboo jersey, or add texture with taffeta.
Trench Coats
The trench coat is a fashion classic, perfect for keeping stylish and comfortable. MM6 Maison Margiela pairs the standard style with a new trend, combining two tones to create one trench. Adeam fashions a simple style and pairs it with a burgundy blazer, while Huishan Zhang utilizes contrast seams and a belt for a sparkling style. With pink vinyl and well-placed ruffles, MSGM fashioned a beautiful trench coat sure to turn heads, and St. John’s trench pairs beautifully with black. Vivetta sets a striking stage with a bright red coat with a pop of white, while Zac Posen shows a brocade trench in a stunning cheetah pattern.

Are you ready to head back to school? Or are you wishing the summer could last forever? Either way, you can head back to school in style! I’ll be sporting a pussybow blouse paired with a trenchcoat! Let me know what you think in the comments!
