The Screen Actors Guild Awards, or SAG Awards, is the award ceremony where television stars get to feel like movie stars, as they both band together to celebrate their chosen profession, acting. Black Panther won big last night, along with The Marvelous Ms. Maisel, and as always, the observers, who got to appreciate the phenomenal fashion that made its way off the runway and down the red carpet.
Dots
Dots. Tiny dots, big dots, lace dots, you name a dot, it was on the red carpet. The Handmaid’s Tale’s Elisabeth Moss sported a Monique Lhuillier gown that featured very small dots that provided a dash of opacity, and Julie Gardner of Doctor Who wore a stunning aquamarine gown with matching dots. Lucy Boynton of Bohemian Rhapsody wore a Victorian-esque ensemble with a dotted lace overlay, while Sophia Bush sported a black cape dress that featured contrasting dots.

Fitted
Fitted silhouettes were top tier this year, with GLOW star Alison Brie sporting a Miu Miu fitted black gown that featured an excessive bow on the back. Danai Gurira, who won big with Black Panther, wore an absolutely stunning fitted Ralph & Russo white gown with a feathered bustier. Laverne Cox went with a seemingly simpler gown that featured a beautiful cape and a stunning bejeweled back, created for her by Zac Posen, and Lupita Nyong’o, a costar of Danai Gurira’s, wore a shockingly short mini dress with a sheer train that was absolutely beautiful, typical of designer Vera Wang.

Leg Slit
Legs for days were the most popular accessory at the SAG awards this year. Angela Basset of Black Panther was out there looking fierce in a stunning dress with a big leg slit and deep v, while A Star is Born’s Lady Gaga looked like a bride-to-be in a white gown that also featured a leg slit and deep v. Patricia Clarkson’s embellished ensemble stole the show with a quiet leg peep, and Samira Wiley’s asymmetrical style was paired perfectly with her poise.
Slit these fabrics:
Pastel Pink
Pastel pink made quite the show at the SAG awards. Crazy Rich Asians star Gemma Chan sported a stunning Oscar de la Renta gown, and Hannah Zeile of This is Us wore a lovely pink satin ensemble. Kate Nash, a costar of Alison Brie’s on GLOW, wore a lovely pink dress with heart appliques, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste stole the show with a stunning brocade gown.
Be pretty in these pinks:
Shimmer
The red carpet must be coated in glitter last night since so many people wore sequins and shimmer. Constance Wu of Crazy Rich Asians sported a strapless ensemble with a leg slit by Oscar de la Renta, while Grace & Frankie actress Jane Fonda wore an absolutely stunning Valentino gown detailed with scallops. Sandra Oh sported a sequin ensemble of rich red, and Yara Shahidi of Black-ish and Grown-ish won the best-dressed award with a stunning glittering jumpsuit with a tulle overlay.

Menswear
Menswear is never as exciting as the womenswear, but some men are changing the playing field. Chadwick Boseman of Black Panther wore a lovely leaf print blazer, while Darren Criss of American Crime Story and Henry Golding of Crazy Rich Asians both sported metallic ones. Atlanta star Lakeith Stanfield wore a lovely velvet bomber jacket that was much more elegant than the sea of black blazers that surrounded him and Rami Malek of Bohemian Rhapsody made the basic black suit stylish again with some crisp lapels.
