Apparently, models wear short shorts, as designers sent shorts stomping down the runway this season. From the shortest shorts, to those covered in sequins, there were many variations of these garments. Let’s take a look at Spring 2018’s most stylish shorts.
A classic, denim shorts were quite popular this season. La Vie Rebecca Taylor floral denim is perfect for warm spring days, while Re/Done and Maki Oh created stunning summer garments. Norma Kamali’s short shorts show some leg, and Oak’s baggy shorts are perfect for a relaxed fit.
Get it done with denim:
Leather and faux leather brings an edge to shorts that they tend to lack, which is clear in Saint Laurent’s folded up pair. Longchamp and Julien David utilized brown leather, while Iro went with black. Marissa Webb’s fantastic laser cut shorts are perfect for picnics or grabbing a drink with old friends.
Lay it out in leather:
Short shorts weren’t the only pairs on the runway this season. Hugo Boss and Tibi presented pairs of professional looking shorts, while Luisa Beccaria went with more dainty looking shorts. The Gigi’s shorts look perfect for spring break, and Lela Rose’s shorts should be out exploring new cities on a warm spring morning.
Go long with these fabrics:
Patterned shorts took center stage this Spring 2018. Alice + Olivia and Jeffrey Dodd each created stunning short sets, perfect for business brunches in the city, while Karen Walker’s more relaxed set is ideal for bowling with friends. Zac Posen showed off his incredible design skills with a pair of stunningly embroidered shorts, and Paul & Joe showed a pair off frilly and feminine floral shorts.
Pick out one of these patterns:
Sequined shorts sparkled as they sped down the runway this season. Area and Saint Laurent used sequins sparingly, with patterns sewn into the garment, while Giamba made sure their shorts could be seen from space. Marques Almeida utilized reversible sequins, and Juicy Couture sequined gym shorts are the height of athleisure.
