Leather
Leather is a classic fabric, one that Paris took advantage of this season. Alexander McQueen went with a militant dress in leather, while Christian Dior went with a more race-car driver style. Quilting may look quaint, but high fashion has a way of making quaint look queer. Rib knit made its way down the runway this season, with some prominent designers dressing models in ensembles made entirely out of this comfy fabric, like Aalto’s fuchsia pants and sweater. Balenciaga and Bernhard Wllhelm created typical rib knit sweaters, while Paul & Joe cropped their sweater for a street style. Courreges attached the top of a rib knit to a simple white dress, creating an intricate ensemble.
