For a while now, Mood Designer Fabrics has had this extensive line of fabulous neoprenes. There are conversational prints, geometric and floral prints just to name a few. If you know me, then you know neoprene or “scuba-knit” is one of my favorite fabrics to work with. It’s not only great for swimwear, you can use neoprene in many style applications. It’s very easy to care for, no wrinkles and very comfy!
This print that I used is Product #: 313776 Multi-color Floral Digitally Printed Stretch Neoprene/Scuba Knit. The ground color is black with floral pops of blues and orange! So pretty.
I didn’t quite know what I wanted to create, I just knew it was going to be hot! This print is fabulous on it’s own so I wanted to focus on that strong starting point. Then suddenly, this idea of a matching short set came to mind. I then decided to go with a cute and sporty feel. I wanted to wear my heels, but also have the option of wearing sneakers without taking away from the look.
Here’s what I used:
- Product #: 313776 Multi-color Floral Digitally Printed Stretch Neoprene/Scuba Knit
- Cynthia Rowley Pattern 1371- Shorts
- Product #: 305929 Black Polyester Neoprene– Used for contrasting neck binding, pockets, waist band and side panel inserts.
I love that the shorts are high waisted. The large band gives the illusion of wearing a 1pc romper!
The shirt was drafted free hand. I used the solid black neoprene to break up the print. It also helps to create the sporty casual look.
I’m sure you’ll be able to find plenty of stunning prints at www.moodfabrics.com. There are some really nice solid colors as well.
I hope you enjoy, and feel inspired! Happy sewing 🙂
