The shows for the upcoming Fall ’22 season consisted of outside-the-box outfits that were loud and bold. There is a sense of wanting to escape from the previous season’s styles in these collections. It’s out with the old and in with the new for this fall’s runways. Designers like Matty Bovan and Kenzo have entered this season producing styles that are both edgy and spontaneous. From bright colors like tiger orange and neon blues, to dramatic tall hoods, New York and Paris showed eye-catching pieces that you can try out yourself!
Bright Colors
This fashion month, Greedilous and Kenzo showed us that brightening up your outfit is the way to go this season. Their collections include colors such as Pantone’s Lava Falls Red and several green tones. The runway models dressed in vibrant puffers, dresses, suits, and capes made a big statement. This trend can easily be mimicked by choosing any clothing piece and picking your favorite color. If you are a neutral tone-wearing person like me and find it hard to break into vibrant colors, start with muted shades, such as loden frost green and light pinks.
Embellishments
Embellishments are a decorative touch that can emphasize your appearance and can be tailored uniquely to your style. Just think of how pearls can make your attire more feminine and metal chains can punk up your look! Erdem offered embellishments with a twist by implementing bundles of roses that were shaped and proportioned to a tailored coat. Altuzarra added gold metallic flat sequins to jazz up a simple knit top and bottom. There are tons of trims like feathers, fringe, rhinestones, and sequins—the list goes on. Try out something like beads or lace to update the clothing you have at home.
Over-The-Top Silhouettes
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to appear big and mighty? Just like high heels, high-defined shoulder pads can give you some height and even enhance your posture. Matty Bovan featured a knit dress & cardigan combo with football-inspired shoulder pads and a maxi windbreaker cape-like jacket. Not to mention, another awesome feature is that this can help you remain six feet apart from people!
Dramatic Hoods and Hoodies
The hoodie became popular in the 1970s thanks to hip hop culture and has remained a style up into the early 2000s as seen on artists like Eminem and Nelly. Raf Simons designed a leather hoodie that begins from the two sides of a cap and makes its way down as a wrap that hugs around the body like a blanket. This well-thought-out hoodie serves as head protection and can even be used for warmth. Hoodies can be designed tall, long, to cover your head or half of it. Wear it up, wear it down, or wear it all around!
