For weeks, I’d been searching for the PERFECT bottom weight white crepe fabric. And this time, I found the perfect one. This White Polyester Crepe from Mood Fabrics.com is every single thing! It’s not creamy like some white fabrics. It’s pure white… “White Party” white! And it’s thick enough for pants.
Polyester has always gotten a bad rap. But throughout the years, polys have improved significantly, so you shouldn’t sleep on them. This one is extremely high-end and looks like the type you see in luxury brand clothing. It’s reorderable and also comes in the color “Wheat”.
My pattern is McCall’s 7953, which is a wrap style jumpsuit. I cut a size 14 in the bodice and made a 1 inch FBA and also lengthened the bodice by 1 inch, while at the same time making a 1 inch swayback adjustment. Meaning, I only added length to the front and the sides.
I added 3 inches of length to the pants and the right front (the overlay).
I modified the suggested side ties by creating a belt
The side is held closed with with 3 pant style hook & eye closures.
I really like the addition of the belt. It gives me much needed definition. Because without any shaping waist darts in the back, I don’t think it would’ve looked very flattering.
I love this fabric. It sewed and pressed beautifully. It wears well too. Even after being in the car with the seat belt, I wasn’t all creased and wrinkled. I can’t wait to make something in the other color.
