From print mixing to pattern play, 2018 was a fun year for prints. Bold colors mixed with bright prints to create some of the most exciting ensembles the runway has seen in a while. Let’s take a look which designs left an imprint on 2018.
Checks
Checks were the print of choice this year. Alena Akhmadullina played with different greys and taupes for her checked jumper, while Lela Rose stuck with gray for her jumper and coat ensemble. Both Rochas and Orla Kiely utilized more intricate checks, and Mulberry went back to the basics for their suit, aside from the Maribou feather trim on the cuff.

Folksy Floral
Cabin-ready floral was also a big hit this year. Alena Akhmadullina featured a simple floral that had little bunnies bouncing across a blouse, while Antonio Marras showed a more intricate, chintz print. Mulberry’s sweet, knee-length dress had tiny floral detailing, and Rebecca Taylor used a lot of fabric for such a revealing neckline. Naeem Khan’s folksy floral is almost spiritual, giving off a beautiful South American vibe.

Print Mixing
Print mixing was all the rage this year, with designers throwing together prints and patterns with reckless abandon. Both Kendall + Kylie and Ace & Jig featured different stripes for their ensembles, while Alice + Olivia played with different checks and plaids. Diane von Furstenberg layered a cheetah jacket over a striped turtleneck, and Duru Olowu created a dress using three types of florals, and a matching blazer using geometric patterns.
