Pantone recently announced their 2019 Colors of the Year and I couldn’t be more pleased. While Living Coral has been put in the #1 slot, I’ve fallen in love with one of their secondary choices. The golden gamboge shades from this past year are turning into a vibrant shade that Pantone has dubbed Mango Mojito. This color makes me long for spring to bloom, and I can’t help but reminisce about summer beaches. Plus, it’ll travel seamlessly into next fall as the leaves begin to change. That said, I wanted to make something that can transition through the seasons just as effortlessly.
Enter, Mood’s fantastic free patterns! My favorite thing to do with patterns is to mix and match and alter until the project feels more my style. For this one, I decided to try out the Zenobia bodice, paired with the skirt of the Yarrow Dress. I couldn’t love the result more! Made with a lush velour, the fabric flows beautifully with Yarrow’s gathered silhouette; and the Zenobia sleeves allow for full coverage in the cooler months and an adorable puff sleeve when pushed up for the warmer seasons!

For free downloads and pattern instructions, please visit the original Zenobia Dress and Yarrow Dress posts.
For this version, you will need the following pattern pieces from each pattern:
- The Zenobia:
- Bodice Front
- Front Neck Facing
- Bodice Back
- Back Neck Facing
- Upper Sleeve
- Lower Sleeve
- Sleeve Cuff
- The Yarrow:
- Skirt Top
- Skirt Bottom

Since I went with a stretch knit for this project, rather than the recommended cotton sateen and voile, I cut the pattern a size smaller than the size chart recommends. I also cut out back seams and the zipper. Because of this, I adjusted the center back of the bodice by cutting off the 1/2″ seam allowance and then cut the pattern piece on the fold.

Have you ever mixed and matched sewing patterns before, or will you be trying it out in the future? I’d love to hear about your sewing projects in the comments!

Man, that’s beautiful!
Living in Miami, I think this would make a beautiful springtime silhouette with a lined chiffon dark floral print with big flowers.
Thank you for such beautiful patterns
