Guipure Lace Fabrics
A type of continuous bobbin lace, Guipure Lace features motifs connected by bars or plaits of thread, rather than a mesh or net ground. Inclusive of a variety of specific lace types, including Genoese, Maltese, Cluny, and Bedfordshire laces, guipure lace most often features floral or geometric designs and is closely related to Venise lace (which is a needle lace). Spectacularly heavy and luxurious, guipure lace is most often used in evening wear and bridal applications.
