The Flexibility and Comfort of Stretch Lace Fabric

The elastic or spandex fibers incorporated into stretch lace fabric allows it to conform to the body with ease. It’s the perfect choice for clothing that needs to stun while getting a lot of movement. Its accommodating fit makes it ideal for dresses, activewear, and lingerie.

Popular Garments Made from Stretch Lace Fabric

Stretch lace is commonly seen in lingerie sets or pajamas that are made to be both pretty and comfortable. You’ll also see it in bodysuits or bodycon dresses that are created to be extra flattering. Stretch lace is also used for activewear, especially elegant athleisure, and tops and blouses.

How to Sew with Stretch Lace Fabric

Due to its delicate nature, sew stretch lace fabric very carefully. We recommend the following steps:

  • Choose a ballpoint or stretch needle. These needles are designed for knit fabrics and will help prevent snags in the lace.
  • Find a stretch thread that matches your fabric. This way, the thread will work in tandem with the stretch lace.
  • Use a stretch stitch to ensure that your fabric will stretch without breaking the thread.
  • Consider using French seams for a clean finish to your project. This method keeps raw edges from looking tattered.
