When it comes to Mood’s faux suede offerings -- complete with every creative iteration from Italian Perforated Faux Suede to Pink Stretch Faux Suede -- it’s impossible to understand how such a well-crafted selection was built without first understanding the unique relationship between faux suede and the world of high fashion. A derivative of the French phrase "gants de Suède,” which literally means “gloves from Sweden," suede is made from the softer, more pliable underside of the animal skin. Much like suede, faux suede, prized for its soft, fluid styles, has a history of being a favorite amongst couturiers. In 1930, French designer Paquin crafted a suit using faux suede and wool. From Givenchy’s Couture Collection in 1992 to Jean Paul Gaultier’s faux suede-draped tunic in 2002, faux suede has come to represent all of the luxury and status of haute couture.
