Goat Hide – leather made from goat hides is extremely durable. Tough but soft, goat hide might be most familiar as the material from which many high quality gardening gloves are made, as they can stand up to the wear and tear of thorns while being supple enough to bend with the fingers. Kid gloves are also most commonly made with goat hide, again due to the flexibility of the material. Goat hides are water-tight, making them a popular choice for water skins and wine skins. Books bound in leather often use goatskin as the material of choice – many vintage books have only lasted as long as they have due to the durability of their goat hide bindings.
