The art of painting and dyeing fabrics is a culturally revered one that dates as far back as 2600 B.C. Originally, fabric paints and dyes were made from natural pigments mixed with water and oils. Initially limited to crimson, green, and dark blue shades, prehistoric forms of fabric paints and dyes had uses that extended beyond clothing. During ancient times, these same paints and dyes were used to decorate skin and jewelry. When prehistoric caves emerged throughout Spain some 40,000 years ago, those same fabric paints and dyes were used to paint them. Today, more than 90% of all colored clothing get their standout hues from fabric paints and dyes.
