Linings and Interlinings provide structure, stiffening, and support for all sorts of garment and home decor sewing projects. Mood’s online selection of interlinings includes horsehair, canvas, and muslin!

Developed nearly 100 years ago, interlinings, those additional layers of fabric between the lining and the shell or the outer garment, were created to protect garments from everyday wear and tear, and keep them as nice the day you bought (or made) them. Introduced around 1920, interlinings first appeared on coat and jackets. Insulating forms of interlinings were popular for adding an additional layer of warmth to cold-weather wear. By the 1940s, interlinings were sewn into everything from hats to luggage to handbags to curtains. Today, interlinings are available in every fabric type from horsehair to cotton to muslin.
