Solstiss Lace Fabrics Solstiss is the world leader in French Leavers lace creation and manufacturing, using vintage Leavers Looms to create both traditional and uniquely modern and experimental lace fabrics. Based in Caudry, France, Solstiss was started in 1876 and is a family-owned legacy business, with century-old expertise passed through generations, family to family for over 150 years. Solstiss’ lace is produced entirely in-house, from design to manufacturing, to dyeing, and finishing, with 250 employees operating 110 machines, which represents roughly 30% of the Leavers looms left in the world today. Every step of the production process is managed by experts, including clipping, mending, and scalloping that is all done by hand. A global presence, Solstiss lace is a staple in the bridal industry and has been used by designers of all kinds, including Ralph Lauren, Alexander Wang, Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana, Danielle Frankel, Elizabeth Filmore, and many more. It’s been worn by stars like Grace Kelly and Lily Collins, and even Kate Middleton. The lace has been used on screen in movies and shows including The Titanic, The Great Gatsby, and The Gilded Age.
