This gorgeous floral sateen had me dreaming of mimosas as soon as I saw it. It’s vibrant, fun, and has a touch of stretch in it, making it absolutely perfect for a brunch-worthy jumpsuit. Taking some inspiration from Carolina Herrera’s last two Resort collections, I went with a bold elephant leg pant and a sleek off-the-shoulder ruffle.
Purchase Fabrics & Materials Used:
- 2.5 yards Morning Glory and Poppy Red Printed Stretch Cotton Sateen
- 2.5 yards Bright White Blended Shirting
- 1 White 24″ Invisible Zipper
- 1/4 yard .125″ White Elastic
I draped this garment right on my dress form, but there are a few alternatives for anyone who likes sticking to pre-made patterns, such as McCall’s 7608 or M7607 if you’re looking to make something with more flow.
To keep the sleeves from sliding down constantly, I added a few inches of elastic on either side. This also made them a little more gathered, which is an extra plus.
I also added 2.5″ pleated to the front of either pant leg to get the perfect, full silhouette.
This is one of my favorite projects to date. It’s comfortable, bright, and beyond bubbly. For sure, this needs to be worn to a beach-side bar with colorful cocktails to match. And next time, it’ll just need pockets for dog treats.
I love the dress. You look fabulous in it!
