Turning the corner into the new year always has me thinking about what’s to come, especially in my wardrobe. Due to the chill in the air and snow on the ground, I’ve been finding myself daydreaming about warm summer mornings spent riding bikes through small towns and enjoying brunch on the beach, a basket overflowing with ripe fruit and champagne. When Resort 2018 came out, I was totally enamored with Antonio Marras’ collection, particularly the beautiful fruit dress. So, I decided to utilize Mood’s Exclusive Rafraichir des Fruits Tea Green Stretch Cotton Sateen, since it’s the perfect fabric for my first attempt at a Resort look!
I absolutely adore a skirt with volume, and this fabric deserves to be fashioned into something stunning, so I decided to make a double full circle skirt. Courtney used the double full circle skirt for the Cosmos Dress, adding a touch of flare to a sophisticated ensemble. The best part about it? How simple it is to add pockets!
Any sateen will do, and Mood’s Exclusive sateen fabrics come in a variety of beautiful and unique patterns, perfect for any garment meant to make a statement.

Instructions
First, open Mood’s Circle Skirt Calculator and select full midi skirt. Enter half your waist measurement, and cut out two skirts with these measurements.
Cut out the pockets, and stitch them together, face to face, making sure to leave some room near the top so they can be stitched to the skirt.
Cut a slit in each skirt, and then line them up face to face. Five inches down, pin a pocket into each slit, making sure the skirt stays lined up properly once everything is pinned. They should be pinned face to face, so that when all is said and done, the pockets sit inside the skirt, with the face of the fabric showing in the pocket and the hem is not showing at all.
Once the pockets are added, the sides can be sewn together, face to face.
Use a rolled hem to finish off the bottom of the skirt, and then take two strips of the fabric to create the waistband. I wanted a somewhat smaller one, so each strip was 5″ by 20″, to create a 2 1/2″ waistband. Sew the widths together on either side, and then pin the waistband to the skirt. Sew it together, and then slip stitch the top of it down.
And that’s it! All it takes is a little elbow grease and some extra fabric to create a beautiful skirt and graceful silhouette. I can’t wait to break this skirt out, hanging out at the drive-in movies or taking a stroll through a beautiful park at sunset.
Where would you wear this double full circle skirt? What fabrics would you use? Let me know in the comments!

Love it, love it. being Canadian can relate to the need to trying out the new spring styles when there is still snow on the ground.
Yes, the resort and spring collections go up and all I want to do is twirl around in bathing suits and light dresses but it’s below freezing out and there’s snow on the ground. So I’m just stuck looking at collections and planning my wardrobe.
