Mood’s selection doesn’t solely rely on the fact that buttons are the go-to fastener for everything from shirts and coats to wallets and bags, it also rests on the knowledge that buttons are frequently used in purely ornate ways. In fact, the earliest known button, found in the ancient Indus Valley some 5000 years ago, was made of curved seashell and did have buttonholes.
