Metallic Fabric Paint

As one of the most spirited of textile treatments, it comes as no surprise that metallic fabric paint first appeared as metal thread. Throughout ancient Egypt, China, and Europe, needleworkers created embroidered jewelry and textiles gorgeous enough to rival some of today’s most striking metallic tones. Often regarded as the precursor to metallic fabric paint, many of those designs were executed with gold metal threads. Similar to our current relationship with metallic fabric paint, gold thread was revered for its beauty and visual impact. Today, thanks to modern technology and a knowledge of fiber construction, silver, bronze, crimson, and, of course, gold metallic fabric paints exist to create the stunning magic of metal thread.
